As with most 3D printing ceramic powder prints an object in layers, one layer at a time. The colour jet printer spreads a thin layer of powder across the platform. The printer carriage moves across each layer depositing binder and inks.
The binder solidifies the powder in the cross section of the printed object leaving the rest of the powder dry for recycling.
The printed object is then cleaned with an airbrush to remove all powder from the part. The object is then soaked in an hardening agent to fill microscopic pockets in the object, sealing its surface and enhancing colour saturation and improving mechanical properties.
